While it’s great for your initial seasoning, I use it after every use of my pie irons and cast iron cookware. After cleaning, I’ll add a dab to a paper towel and then lightly apply to the inside and outside of the cast iron surface. It keeps any rust from developing while in storage as even a well seasoned piece of cast iron can develop some oxidation when exposed to moisture.
