Not the same quality as even 15 years ago

We had a pie iron break when dropped from our original set that's circa 2010, so we ordered a 4 pack.

These are NOT the same. While it says Rome, the casting is different - we tried fitting a new half to an old half and they don't line up, and instead of a "notch" and a "bar" where the two halves meet, now there is a circle and a depression.

That isn't the real problem - the real problem is the casting quality is so low on these that every single iron has deep pitting, gouges or defects in the casting.

We haven't even stripped the beeswax off in order to season them yet, but the finished product (and everything you're going to cook) is going to suffer because of it.

If we weren't leaving for camp on Friday, I'd be returning these without seasoning them. As it is, they probably all need someone to take an angle grinder and rotary sander to them to make them even close to the quality of the originals.

Not sure if they're farming this out to china or not, but it's a sad day when this is the "new normal"

Buyer Beware.
