To use simply place two pieces of buttered bread in the clam shell style compartment and stuff with preserves, pie filling, cheese or meat. Close the lid and toast over the fire until done.

Easy to season and great to use. Works great with oil spray and gluten-free bread. Cooks well over coals without food sticking. I also used it on my gas stove to test some recipes, and it was excellent there too. Easy to clean up, fits handily in my firekit tote.
Lately, campfires have been banned in Oregon forests and campgrounds for most of the summer. So when out camping, I've been using a small, portable gas grill to cook food in my pie irons instead of over a fire. The standard pie iron with a longer handle is unstable but the shorter handle on the Jaffle works perfectly. Very stable.
