I had only heard about Pudgie pies & was curious to expand my camp cooking horizons. I have canoe camped & dehydrated my own food for light weight week long trips for many years. After adopting an adult rescue dog I have recently been car camping to introduce her to my hobby/lifestyle in an easy manner. For my birthday last week I bought myself a Rome pie iron after doing a bunch of research on what brand was the most awesome. It arrived the day before my trip upstate-perfect, nice piece of equipment, sturdy & well made. I seasoned the iron with blended coconut & flaxseed oil right in my beautiful campsite. Then I made some super yummy, toasted sandwiches to share. White bread, Turkey, Swiss, bacon bits & a dab of spicy chipotle mayo melted to perfection. It made my afternoon delicious after a lovely paddle all around Canopus Lake. After that I made 2 more sandwiches to share, all with the birds chirping around me. Easy & delicious-that toasty crunch-oooh. For dessert I used white bread, strawberry cream cheese & cinnasugar. Yummy & the fillings stayed inside the pie iron nicely with no scorching. Love this new cooking tool to play with, easy & fun & sky’s the limit on ideas. I only wished Michael still had his book in stock so I could explore his creativity that comes with years of living the dream. Luckily I bought the Pudgie Revolution book for some excellent ideas, also the weather & bugs held out for a relaxing few days. Much needed bliss. Thanks Michael, I know I’ll have years of fun & might be back for other styles of iron since there are so many options!

We have not used this item yet. We saw the iron being used on Magnolia Networks Andrews Family Dinner! Had to have one so we ordered for us & our Sons family. Will be a great camp item!
